Yixing Clay Teapot

Yixing, pronounced “ee-shing”, teapots first appeared in the Yixing region of China, during the Sung Dynasty (960-1279 ME). Since then, they have become the preferred tea brewing vessel of the Chinese and of tea drinkers worldwide. Yixing teapots are intended for individual use, producing 1-2 servings of tea.

We love the simple earthen design and natural finish of this Yixing teapot. This type of teapot is porous and becomes seasoned over time from use. These pots should be reserved for a single type of tea as they enhance the flavor of the chosen tea with time. This particular teapot is slightly larger than the average Yixing pot.

*To clean this type of teapot, simply empty the leaves and rinse the teapot with hot water. Never use soaps or cleansers, as they may be absorbed by the porous clay and interfere with the taste of your tea.
